Recently Stefan has been developing his experience in more cinematic filmmaking, specifically honing his skills in stylised lighting, camerawork, editing and grading. In 2004 Stefan wrote, produced, directed, filmed and edited Out of Place – Out of Time, a compelling documentary about Palestinian refugees living in a camp in Beirut. This film was acquired by ABC TV and is distributed internationally by Journeyman Pictures.

In 2005 Stefan won best debut documentary director for this film at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. Out of Place – Out of Time was screened at the 10th Arab Film Festival in San Francisco, 2006. Out of Place – Out of Time was broadcast on ABC TV in 2006 and 2007.

In 2005 Stefan completed a Graduate Diploma in Documentary at the Victorian College of the Arts, School of Film and Television. His short film Love & Razor Wire, about an Australian woman married to an asylum seeker, was voted as an audience favourite at the Melbourne Open Channel, Love Your Work, short film competition.

From 2006 to 2012 Stefan worked with the Torch Project on various community cultural development film projects around Victoria. In 2007 Stefan facilitated a film about Aboriginal Elders made by young men in Heywood Victoria, Warren Yarkeen. In 2008 he facilitated the making of a 14-minute drama made by Aboriginal people in Swan Hill, LORE vs LAW, to help highlight the importance of making a will. In Bendigo he facilitated a 23 minute drama about young people connecting with Elders called Call of the Spirit. In 2009 Stefan facilitated a comic drama about an Indigenous man obsessed with lawn bowls titled Jacky Jack.

In 2009 Stefan was asked to facilitate three short films by Ilbijerri Theatre Company for the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service, collectively called Deadly Life lessons and included, Wheels, Busted and Shopping. These three films are about young people´s legal rights and have been made in collaboration with students from Northland Secondary College. Collaborating community partners include Victoria Police and Metro Trains Melbourne.

Also in 2009, Stefan was Director of Photography for a documentary about four young Indigenous Australians volunteering near Vellore in India, for Australian Volunteers International title Children of the Rainbow Serpent.

Stefan also edited the AFI nominated Beyond Our Ken, a 90 minute documentary, 2007 and the international award winning A Nun´s New Habit, a 45 minute documentary, 2009.

From 2011 and 2014 Stefan made community films for, Domestic Violence Victoria, the Catholic Education Office Melbourne, the Brotherhood of St Laurence and Victorian Legal Aid. Also in 2012 Stefan began working on a documentary about the musician Shane Howard and his song Solid Rock.

A half hour drama film Stefan helped complete in 2014 is Between Me. He was the co-producer, 2nd cameraman, editor, music composer and sound designer.

In 2015 Stefan directed a documentary for Kooir women, Strong Boorias, Bright Futures, that included practical advice and personal experiences about reducing and stopping the use of alcohol, smoking and other drugs, before, during and after pregnancy for Koori women. In 2015 Stefan also directed a television commercial for Novvi Car Finance. The client for both theses projects was Orbit Creative. Other recent clients include, Generation Content and Open Creative.

In 2016 Stefan directed a strategic promotional film for Our Say.
